About
Hi I'm Jazz
The subject of my work is influenced by places and objects that hold meaning and memory. I paint from still life, photo and en plein air. Often, I am inspired from treasures collected and photos taken along the trails, beaches, roads and fields of my travels.
Currently, my art is shaped by plants and flowers that I care for, by those my community grows, and by the lands that sustain them. Flowers personify the brittleness of time we have with each other and the need to capture and rejoice in those moments while we have them.
Color determines how I pursue my art. I love the "punch" neons give to my work and neon reminds of me growing up in the 80s.

Producing art helps me preserve place, people and memories that are important to me. When directed at another person, it allows me to show my feelings toward them. When teaching, art permits me to help others broaden their gifts. I strive to become a master of my craft and an expert of the materials that I use.
